Fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda Smith) feeding elicits differential defense responses in upland and lowland switchgrass

Dataset containing gene annotations of RNA-seq of switchgrass in response to FAW infection. Two different cultivars of switchgrass were tested, the upland (Summer) variety and the lowland (Kanlow) variety. The authors found that Kanlow shows more resistance to FAW and this is indicated in response to higher expression of the jasmonic acid precursor 12-oxo-phytodienoic acid (OPDA). This dataset may be useful for determining advantageous genes in Kanlow for future switchgrass breeding. DOI: https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0218352
